October 19th, Friday, 12-3pm: Schoolyard Garden Series: Skills and Stories to Grow Your Garden, Victoria, $35.
October 20th, Saturday 10-12pm: Advanced Composting, Victoria Compost Centre, FREE.
October 27, Saturday 10-12pm: School Garden Series #3: Cross-Curricular Learning Through School Gardens, UBC Farm, FREE.
Grants & Contests:
October 9, Vancouver Sun: can request a specific project be funded or tools or supplies and they’ll print it and request a donor match.
October 15, Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant (for $2k) or Bee Grant (for an observation hive).
October 15, BC Community Gaming Environment Grant: Up to $100,000 per year! Whoa. Maybe for lots and lots of tools!
October 19, ArtStarts: apply for $10,000 or $3,500 for an art project at a school. Mosaics? Cob Walls? New mural for the the school?
October 31, BC Healthy Schools: up to $5000 for school gardens. Work with Jenny Redpath on this.
October Farm to School Photo contest: Submit a school garden photo with a catchy caption, and enter for a chance to win one of five $100 stipends!
